The Rogue Penguin is the name of a team entered in the 4th Annual Toronto Lego Robotics Event, held at the University of Toronto by some U of T engineering students and users of the newsgroup rec.toys.lego. Wednesday, December 13, 2000 Sadly, there will be no Rogue penguin entry to this year's competition (according to Qing). The project that started it all is no more. Soon, we'll post our top secret documents and exchange from last year, in the hopes that someone goes on to compete in this year's challenge. Wednesday, January 11, 2000 The Rogue Penguin site is now a part of The Asthenosphere Project! Photos are up, check them out! Saturday, January 8, 2000 The day of the competition. Morning started by rebuilding the entire drive train. And again. And again. And scrapping the drive train by 12:00, and going with two motors. And screw sorting too, by 1:00. So instead of Tuxbot, we had POS : ) (or PatchBot) Nevertheless, through some crazy luck, we got to the semi-finals, before we lost to kBot9002 (which was the only bot to actually manage to get home!) All in all, tons of fun! Thursday, January 6, 2000 Second (and sadly last) meeting. We built most of the bot, and managed to get it into one piece and running (alas it was not to last...) Nick's mom wowed us again, this time with some absolutely awesome lasagna! And of course, more laughs. Monday, December 27, 1999 The Rogue Penguin has its first meeting: builds catapult, throws sacrificial heads around, and manages to sort of build Tuxbot... Kudos to Nick's parents for having the guts to host a nerd party : ) Qing gets bored and makes this website... Friday, December 17, 1999 The authorities reject us, our peers shun us - The Rogue Penguin is born! |
